Merit Health Honor Physicians on National Doctors’ Day with Charitable Donations
4/1/2025
Flowood, MS, March 30, 2025 - For the third consecutive year, Merit Health is celebrating National Doctors’ Day in a meaningful way—by giving back to the community in honor of their dedicated medical staff. This year, the Jackson area hospitals have once again chosen to express their appreciation by making donations to local charities selected by their physicians.
National Doctors’ Day is an opportunity to recognize physicians for their expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication to patient care. True to their commitment to service, Merit Health physicians have opted to support community organizations rather than accept traditional gifts from the hospital network.
"We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our physicians, who provide exceptional care to patients across our region every day," said Dr. Greg Oden, Merit Health Chief Medical Officer. "Honoring their contributions through charitable giving is a fitting tribute to their commitment to both medicine and the community."
The following organizations will receive a portion of the donations totaling more than $15,000 on behalf of the physicians from the Jackson area Merit Health hospitals:
- Merit Health Central - Shower Power
- Merit Health Madison - Holmes Community College School of Nursing Scholarship Fund
- Merit Health Rankin - Alzheimer’s Association, MS Chapter
- Merit Health River Oaks - Hinds Community College School of Nursing Scholarship Fund
- Merit Health Woman’s Hospital - Mississippi College School of Nursing Scholarship Fund
