Merit Health Woman's Hospital Employees Raise $550 for Jackson Stitchery Guild to Support Mastectomy Patients
10/17/2024
Merit Health Woman's Hospital employees recently raised $550 by selling sweatshirts and tumblers to support the Jackson Stitchery Guild (JSG), an organization that has generously donated over 500 pillows to mastectomy patients at Merit Health Woman’s Hospital since July 2020. These pillows provide comfort to patients recovering from surgery, and the JSG remains committed to their mission despite rising supply costs.
Each pillow is thoughtfully crafted to be machine washable and dryable, taking over an hour and a half to make. The pillows are packaged individually, tied with ribbon, and delivered directly to the hospital as needed. JSG members Cathie Bailey and Jane Allison received the donation during the hospital's annual Pink Party—a fun and educational event to raise breast cancer awareness among hospital employees and the community.
“The Jackson Stitchery Guild is touching lives with each pillow that is donated,” said Crystal Scott, hospital administrator. “These pillows may seem small, but they make a huge impact on the comfort and recovery of our mastectomy patients.”
Merit Health Woman’s Hospital is proud to partner with JSG and support their ongoing efforts to care for patients in such a compassionate and thoughtful way.
